Biography Jen Bartholomew has been a native of upstate New York since 1982, when her father was stationed in the area with the military. At a young age, Jen showed a keen interest in both arts and crafts, and took as many art-related classes as curriculum allowed, beginning in the sixth grade. No matter the medium, whether paint, paper, wood, or metal, she would put a challenging and creative spin to the project. It isn't surprising that in the tenth grade her astute art teachers recognized her ability and pushed her to continually broaden her horizons. Jen married her high school sweetheart, Ed, a year after graduation, and then began to pursue college part-time as she worked various odd jobs to support them as he finished college. They were able to move to South Carolina for a couple of years while Ed had a great job opportunity. Jen used this time to study at Converse College, a private women's school well-known for its art program. Upon learning that their bundle of joy, Naomi, was on the way, the couple returned home to the north to be with their family. After a few years of getting used to being a full-time mommy, Jen began picking up her paintbrushes again. When she dipped them into watercolors, she felt as if she had realized her true calling. Jen resides in Ballston Spa with her husband, darling 4 year-old ballerina, and her 3 kitties Hunnypot, Maisey, and Tallulah. copyright 2006 updated 7/05 |
